Blackdog Music Publishing was founded in 2005 by New York State based record producer and musician, Robert Blackburn. while making records with independent recording artists who wanted to maintain high standards and artistic vision when recording their music. Blackburn saw a need for an indie-rock placement agency that would build meaningful bridges between independent recording artists, music supervisors, and filmmakers. Blackdog Music Publishing maintains high standards in both its music and its placements, assuring the long-term integrity of its catalog.

Blackdog Music Publishing liscences both synchronization rights and master use rights on behalf of its affiliated artists, making liscencing from Blackdog Music Publishing catalog relatively simple and quick. Our music is not pre-cleared, so that artists can collaborate on selecting placements, though Blackdog Music Publishing will usually have clearance and be able to issue liscences within one or two business days.
